Turns out SLIM, is a complicated man.
After waiting almost 8 hours on Thanksgiving Eve, I finally got a chance to sit down with the former front-man of the R&B Quartet, 112. Mind you this happened in the back of a truck at 3am. But it happened nonetheless.
Slim, nee Marvin Scandrick, is surprisingly candid and very open to talk about exactly where he is in his career. And where is he? In a very good place.
Slim’s debut solo effort, Love’s Crazy opened the charts with impressive numbers for an independent release, as well as overall positive reviews.
But despite it all, Slim contends that he “doesn’t know how much longer he’ll be doing this.” Despite the performance I’d just witnessed - in which just about every lady in the club (after waiting hours) pushed and shoved to make contact - Slim contends he doesn’t see himself doing this forever. His focus now is his company, the independent label MTG.
But if the impressive opening, his successful (and infectious) first single, “So Fly” and his connection with his fans are any indication - I doubt Slim will be going anywhere anytime soon.
Ed. Note: Much love to Sickamore & Phil, Raheem & Stephon for all of your help (and patience)

Is it bad I liked him better with 112? Or maybe music in general is just not as good as it used to be but I can’t front like he doesn’t have talent.
