More details are also emerging about what exactly went wrong with TAMEKA FOSTER-RAYMOND’s Brazilian plastic surgery last weekend that forced her husband to cancel his pre-grammy appearance and left her in a coma.
Ellen Dasptry, a rep for Dr. Silvio Sterman, the doctor who was to perform the surgery on Raymond, says they never even got that far. In an interview with People, Dasptry says the 37 year-old mother of five went into cardiac arrest before surgery even began.
“Tameka Raymond came here on Friday to do a liposuction. Shortly after she went under [general] anesthesia, she suffered a cardiac arrest. When an attack like this happens, the doctors put the patient to sleep… and make sure that everything is okay and that there has not been any damage, this is the protocol every time and this is what was done.”
After going into arrest, Raymond was immediately revived and as of yesterday was still listed in stable condition.
Her husband USHER first gave cause that something was wrong when he cancelled his pre-Grammy performance at Clive Davis’ annual party, citing a ‘Family Emergency’. He then rushed to be by his wife (of 2 years) side. Also in tow was Dr. Gabriel Hunt, a LA based neurosurgeon who is said to be leading the team treating Foster-Raymond.
Of course there is inevitable speculation over exactly why Foster chose to travel to South America to have Liposuction. And while the Raymond camp has made it clear they will issue no further statement, according to many well-respected plastic surgeons, most women are asked to wait at least 3 month post child-birth before any sort of abdominal procedure.
Usher and Tameka welcomed their son (his second, her fifth) Navyd in December.
