Last year around the end of the summer, I began openly talking about my secret love for Aubrey Graham’s music. Of course when I did so, many of you (through various social networking sites) began to openly ridicule me.
‘Who the hell is Drake?’ you said to me…
You called me names.
You laughed and pointed.
And when I said (last November via twitter) that Drake was my pick as the artist to watch on ‘09 and that he was gonna get Jay’s blessing, you all called me a silly girl and told me to go back to talking about movies and fashion…
And now look at you.
One by one I hear, ‘Man, Drake is kinda nice’ and ‘Aiight, that one song is fire’ and all sorts of OTHER ADMISSIONS AND LATE PASSES. Dick riders.
I understand wanting to be the ‘first’ to know something. And I also understand not wanting to get swept up in anybody’s hype. But when you wear your cool SO tough that you can’t ignore the opinion of others and shut up and listen…You’ve lost.
