Just two days after his 20th birthday, CHRIS BROWN now has his first public defense strategy.
Brown’s lead attorney Marc Geragos has officially requested access to the LAPD investigation documents that stem from the now infamous leaking of RIHANNA’S victim pics. Geragos released a statement yesterday saying among other things, it won’t matter legally what happened in the car that night because this case won’t even get to trial.
“I am informed and believe that this highly prejudicial photograph was sold by an LAPD officer to the entertainment website, TMZ. The photograph was immediately viewed by hundreds of thousands of viewers and was displayed on every news channel for several weeks … The purpose of the leak was necessarily for profit and to vilify Mr. Brown and poison the potential jury pool. I intend to use such evidence at the preliminary hearing to attack their credibility … I believe there is a reasonable likelihood that the case will be dismissed at the preliminary hearing.”
This marks a dramatic turn in the case against Brown who faces felony battery charges against his former girlfriend. Until now his legal defense team has remained quiet about their intentions and wide speculation has been that they were working towards a plea deal.
So here’s the inevitable question: Let’s say the case gets dismissed and Brown serves no jail time, no community service, no court ordered repercussions – Will it change how you view him? Would it be harder to support his music when the smoke clears if he never suffers any legal consequences for what he’s done?
Speak on it…

nope. i need better details before i can make a better call. So until then s’all good with me.
This is that Bull. This whole case is gonna be decided by a leaked photo? chris Brown needs to man the hell up and take responsibility for whatever actions he did to her. His career is over as far as I’m concerned. However, in today’s time, there are a lot of teenager’s and grown woman who think that their man putting his hands on here is fine so he just might slip through the crack and have some sort of comeback. Was never a fan of him before and certainly wouldn’t support him now. He’s a punk.
Ralph, would you feel differently if you knew that Chris got help on his own? Or if you were a fan of his before this whole thing?
I honestly didn’t support his music before and cannot say it will make me want to vocally boycott it now.
As a person I realize that he is no more infallible than the next man.
What I would like to see though out of him would be some humility. I hate to even mention his name because I do boycott his music and do not defend him in any way… but the guy that was facing child porn charges and had the video tape, him. He beat his case too only to make an interview wherein he suggest that having any relationships with girls (at least) 18 years old is ok. He never truly tried to speak out against child porn or anything that would show his views that such an act is wrong.
I hope CB will take note and learn that just because he won’t be under lockdown doesn’t mean he won’t be under scrutiny from now on.
He’s young he made a mistake. Everyone is making him out to be a monster but you never truly know what you will do until your put in that situation. I’ll still listen to his music if I like it. It always seems like the public want’s so much from you when your in the spotlight, they want you to be humble, apologize, seek help, beg for forgiveness but in reality he could do all of that and not be genuinely remorseful so it means nothing in the end. It’s just something to make everyone else feel good. I’ll still play his music, now if he’s in court again in a few years for the same thing that might make me look at him different.
BlessedBrilliant – I agree about the humanity but I think the biggest diff between the two of them is age. And also history. R. Kelly has a history of relationships with young girls (Aaliyah) even before his trial. Where as with Chris, for most of us, this came out of nowhere. Also we don’t know at this point what Chris is even allowed to say. I think his defense team has him gagged.
Bryan – I agree completely BUT also young or not, he has to own up to it. Especially if he wants to continue to sing to young girls.
Black girls will still support him cuz thats how they are raised.
To them Chris is a angel and can do no wrong.
They have no morals or respect…
They defend a woman beater with everything they have and demonize the woman that got beaten.
They make all kinds of excuses for him.
When this is all over Chris will have a career.
Girls will still support him.
Some girls say they wouldn’t mind if Chris hit them…
No self respect at all.
But thats black women
