SHOOTING FORCES DRAKE TO CANCEL CHICAGO AFTER-PARTY…

Last night Chicago was all abuzz over the arrival of DRAKE but things didn’t quite go as planned. Prior to his sold out show at the House of Blues, the Canadian Rapper was scheduled to appear at an offical tour-related party to kick it with nearly a 1000 of his fans. But when the rapper failed to appear, people began to question exactly what happened.

This morning the Chicago Sun-Times reported that a shooting outside the House of Blues – where Drake (nee Aubrey Drake Graham) was also staying.

Just after 4 a.m. police responded to the area around the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn, for calls of shots fired. More than 1,000 people had gotten out of a show at the concert venue about that time…Just a few minutes later, police investigating the calls of shots fired found a man at 350 N. State St. who had been shot, according to unconfirmed dispatch reports. The man had reportedly been shot in the buttocks.

After word of the shooting spread, the rappers handlers decided it was in everyones best interest for him to cancel any further appearances.

I spoke to DJ Vince Adams who was on the One’s & Two’s for the much-hyped official VIP party and he said despite the cancellation, everything was cool. “I made the announcement that Drake wasn’t going to be appearing and surprisingly, everyone was cool, like whatever and went back to partying. It made my life a little easier…So we had NO violence at our spot.”

Sources say that tentions in the crowd at the House of Blues however were high due to the delayed start time of the show. The opening acts came on at 11:30pm as scheduled but Drake himself did not show until 3am. After a 45 minute set, a large fight broke out in the crowd and the show was cut short.

Though authorities have not released a motive in the shooting, there’s been no word on what actually prompted the violence. No suspects are in custody. To be clear, the shooting happened outside of the venue after the show and neither the rapper or any members of his entourage were ever the intended targets.

No word from Drakes camp on the situation…

  1. I understand how crowds being impatient can really turn up the heat on the venue, the artist and the people there when a show gets delayed. But seriously, do we have to resort to violence? I hope Drake returns and gives the show, under heavy protection of course!

Just to be clear- the TERRIBLE opening acts did not start until 245am, 2hrs and 15 minutes after their scheduled time. Drake hit the stage at about 330am and had a 25-30 minute set before the fight and all that happened. The house of blues closes at 430am and they began asking people to leave at 4am, fight or no fight. The entire concert was a ridiculous, unorganized mess. All except Drake’s great 25 minute performance….

Yea the opening acts definitely didn’t start until about 2am…it was realllly bad. You should probably change your story because HOB didn’t even start letting ppl into the venue until almost 12am. Opening acts didn’t begin until the venue was full which doesn’t make sense. You’re supposed to start your performances asap once people start walking in the door. But it was highly unorganized. Drake came on at 3:15am, just to be accurate. He did a great job though. Unfortunately people were drunk and tired and restless so tensions were definitely high in the building.

Yeah the opening acts started around 2:45am most of which got boooed because of the restlessness of the crowd. Drake didnt hit the stage until 3:15 as another comment states, the fights broke out while drake had 1 song to go, he didnt seem rattled by the fight and after a few moments he did his last song. Soon after every1 was leaving there were two shots fired. (police looked around like the didnt hear anything) as for the afterparty i dont believe he had an intention on going anyway b/c he didnt hit the stage until 3am and the club the after party was at closes around the same time the concert ended at about 4am, not to mention the club’s promoters we’re all at the concert!

as for the house of blues i strongly suggest more security. they had no control over anything the fight lasted a good 5min before they were able to semi control it. there was weed smoke everywhere you tured, and frankly they didnt really even pat us down before entering. Concidering the time the event started, the minimal security, and the fact that ppl wern’t patted down properly this could of been a LOT worse….
