Strangely enough in related news, this years VH1 Hip Hop Honors will break format for the first time in six years and instead of picking a handful of artists from a particular era or sub-genre, the show will focus solely on Def Jam. 

Both the live show and the corresponding broadcast will feature performances and vignettes from some of Def Jams biggest and brightest current roster and alumni. There’s also plans in the works to honor the labels pioneers RUSSELL SIMMONS and RICK RUBIN. 

TRACY MORGAN will reprise his role as host (see now how it all ties in) as the show tapes on October 13th in NYC.
