The Chanel Fall/Winter 09/10 Haute Couture line is feminine and exuberant. I love how the pieces are still new but remain identifiably Chanel. As seen above Chanel does it’s little black dress with a twist- a plume. The simplicity of the piece gives the addition the right touch of drama. Tails, plumes, high necklines, ruffled detailing and the clean silhouettes that are signature to the house are thematic in the lines.

Contrary to popular belief some pieces are wearable straight from the runway. However..this isn’t one of them. Even more striking than the crotch high hiked up hem is the jewel detailing. Is it just me or does the half crescent shaped designs seem strategically placed to resemble a breast? Which coincidentally is non existent on the model? May as well have been a tassel. Same effect. This is by no means a dis to Chanel, it’s just not a realist piece that can be pulled off by any woman with breasts-no matter the bra size.

Now this is an example of how runway can turn into a red carpet hit. The sheer drama of it all- tails, ripped satin detailing and structured jacket turns the damsel look into damsel in distress in a good way. This look is neo-chic and I can see Rihanna, Ciara, maybe even Solange pull this off with a bang. Your thoughts? Weigh in below.
